70 Years and the 'Lynn News' Feature

In the Friday, 20th July and Tuesday 25th July issues of the Lynn News, a feature on Harrods Coaches highlighted our 70 years in business and told readers about a competition run in the local school to design a new motif for our buses.

Thanks to their kind permission, you can see a scan of the feature below, and the text has been written out next to it.

D & H Harrod Coaches

It's been an important year for D & H Harrod (Coaches), with a move to new premises at the former Bexwell aerodrome reflecting the continued growth of the business.

2007 also happens to be the 80th year of trading for the company, and it was considered an appropriate moment to re-brand with a new letter ‘H’ motif to display on the sides of the coaches.

To choose the new motif, a competition has been held for Year 10 pupils at Downham High School, with the winner receiving a £50 cheque, and the winning entry will appear on the sides of the vehicles.

The company has close links with the school. Paul Harrod, his brother, Mark, and sister, Laura, were all taught by David Setchell of the school’s art department, and Harrods have operated trips for him over the years.

The new motif will be painted in gold on the executive and private hire coaches, and in the traditional cream on the rest of the vehicles.
For most of its history, the company had been based at Wormegay, first at the Old Chapel and then at Castle Road, before the move to Bexwell earlier this year.
